Fog

Today I learnt about Fog.
Fog can be added through the rendering > enviroments option. you can change settings for how thick it is, where it starts and where it stops as well as the colour.

There is also Volume fog the allows you to create fog in a certain area using a gizmo. this is good for adding fog into small areas, with these pictures I added a Fire effect that uses the same type of gizmos as the volume fog.

Procedural Maps

Now for something completely different... or not.
I am going to show you how to add bumps.

Moar Basic Material stuff

Now I am going to tell you how to create materials using other options in MAX

Basic Materials

So here is a quick tutorial on how to change the colour of a material and then add it to an object

Hand

So this is my first attempt at a hand....and I can not think of a joke for it :(

So to make this hand I first started off with a Box, then I converted it into a "Editable poly", after that I turned on "Nurms Subdivision" and turned off "Isoline display".
Once that was done I then connected two edges to create three more then extrude them out to create the fingers (you do the same for the thumb). then to create the knuckles I chamfered the edges of the fingers.
Finally for the nails, I extruded that part down then inset (very slightly) inward then extruded back up.

(Skylight was used for render)

Some people gave me and *Hand* with this.
and I think something is wrong with this but I can not put my *finger* on it

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace

My aMACE-ing 3D modelling right here.

So this mace is was really simple to make, all I did was just create half of it using the line tool, then added a Lathe to it to create it (kinda the same way that I did the spear) after that I customized the vertices to make it look more like what I wanted.

Also I would like to add that when I render these objects, I add a skylight w/ cast shadows as well as a plane under the object.

Lights

Here are some simple lighting sets:

Omni - this is a 360 degree light, this would work well for making a 3D sun

Direct - is a straight beam of light, good for lasers

Spotlight - is a Diagonal beam of light, good for well... spotlights.

This picture has and Omni and Spot light in it.
