Lights

Here are some simple lighting sets:

Omni - this is a 360 degree light, this would work well for making a 3D sun

Direct - is a straight beam of light, good for lasers

Spotlight - is a Diagonal beam of light, good for well... spotlights.

This picture has and Omni and Spot light in it.

Tip of the "SPEAR"

Can you Spear a moment?

SPEARS! spears everywhere!

So as you can tell by the cheap puns, I made a spear, it was done by simply using lathe tool.
I created half of the spear using the line tool then added lathe to make it 3D, but I had to add some more vertices to properly even it out.

Shield of things that you need protecting from.

SHEILDS!
nope I have no bad joke for this.... sorry.

This shield was made using boolean, spline modelling and edit poly.

For the main body of the shield, I started off with a box, then I used boolean with spheres and boxes to create the shape.

as for the details, I used the line tool (spline) to create them, then I added edit poly to make them 3D, then extruded them to make them pop out of the shield a bit.

Axe!!!

Can I "axe" you a question?

Of course I can I have an Axe!

To make this Axe I used edit poly and spline modelling.

To be more detailed I used an edit poly for the handle, with it starting off as a cylinder then extrude, inset and bevel to make it look more like a handle.

As for the blade, I used the line tool (spline) to create the shape then made it into a 3D object by putting edit poly on it then used "cap holes" on it because the back was missing

Crossbow of Crossy-ness

This is A CROSSBOW!
in case you did not guess that from the title.

To create this crossbow I used a few different tools.

Namely I used Loft to create the main body of the cross bow, this used Rectangle and circle splines.

As for the bow (which in my opinion is the most important part) I simply used a cylinder with soft selection to make it bend with the rest of it, and the string was just a simple cylinder with nothing edited.

Thanks for reading!! :)

Sword of truth

WELCOME TO YOUR DOOOM!
Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *cough*

Look at it! it is mavelious!
I made this using a few different tools.
For the handle I used "pro-boolean" to make it look like it has some grip
The hilt was just a box extruded, then then inset then extrude,
but for the triangles I cut the shapes then inset
and extruded inwards.
As for the blade, I used a box but added my own vertexs as well as an inset and extrude to make the bend in the blade, and for the tip, I moved the vertexs to make it pointy.
Finally the ball at the top/bottom, that was a sphere with a symmetrical inset/extrude on each side.

I also used mesh smooth on it (bottom right picture).

Proposal

I have been set the task of creating 6 different objects in 3DS Max that are set around a specific theme and style, using the techniques that I have learnt.
For this I have chosen to create Weaponry in a medieval style (e.g. Swords and shields), specifically a sword, crossbow, shield, spear, mace and an axe as well as adding small details to them like engravings or bolts (the crossbow).

While creating the above objects I will be using techniques that I have learnt in the past few weeks, like box modelling and spline modelling as well as Lofting, edit poly, edit spline, displace or lathing to help create the objects as well as the details and shape of them. These objects have been researched to create a unique shape for each object.
While creating these objects I will be using 3DS max, a 3D modelling and animation software.
since I am doing weapons I will have to aim these object at a mature audience as well as being careful with details on the weapons (like blood) to make sure there are no ethical constants.
How I will know if I succeeded is if the final product (the weapons) looks like or resembles the initial sketches that I have made.

Extra stuffs: Game logos

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEES

Lets start off with half life, this was created by using only splines, circle for the well... the circle and for the actual logo I used line, afterwards I used edit poly to make it 3d.
